Waxing

What is the difference between bikini line, G-String and a brazilian wax?

A bikini line wax is a basic tidy. Wax is applied along side the underwear line making sure that all unwanted hair is removed and not showing.

A G-String wax allows you to take off as much or as little hair as you like from the front.

A Brazilian wax goes from the front, all the way to the back. It's the perfect wax for a complete nude look, or you can leave a neat triangle/strip on the front.

How long does my hair need to be before waxing?

It is advisable for the hair to be at least 1/4 inch so that the wax can grab the hair. The usual time in between wax treatment is 4-6 weeks.

Manicures and Pedicures

What is the difference between Gel Polish and Shellac?

Both Gel Polish and Shellac are permanent manicure/pedicure options. They both give you a smooth, beautiful and long lasting result lasting up to two weeks on fingernails and eight weeks on toenails.

Gel Polish is set under LED light for approx 30 seconds each coat. Shellac is set under UV light for approx 2 minute each coat. I find this is the main difference between the two polishes.

Both Gel Polish and Shellac are removed using acetone. With proper care from a professionally trained therapist, your nails will return to their normal healthy condition.

Spray tanning

What should I do prior to my spray tan?

Exfoliate and moisturise 24 hours before your treatment, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles and problem dry areas.

Wax/shave at least 48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.

The entire 24 hours before your treatment avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products or in shower moisturisers.

Please don’t apply moisturiser, perfume, deodorant or makeup on the day of your treatment.

What do I do after having my spray tan?

Wear dark loose clothing; tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear flip-flops or loose fitting shoes.

Shower lightly in cold – luke warm water for 30 seconds ONLY after the first hour for a light to medium tan and 2-3 hours for a medium to dark tan.

Use plain water, don’t use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment.

Avoid sweating, don’t exercise or swim for the first 24 hours after your spray tan treatment.

Try not to touch your skin during development time. Any marks on your hands, therefore, are due to your hands touching the developing tan. You need to be aware that once this has developed, nothing will remove it from your palms.

Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise some more. Use MineTan’s 3 in 1 Gradual Tan so your tan is continually being topped up and its life extended. Remember to wash your palms after.

After day 5, exfoliate with a soft body polish on a daily basis, to help your skin absorb even more moisturiser and keep it looking and feeling gorgeous.

Long exposure to water and sweating from exercise will fade your spray tan. Your outer cells will start to soak up water which dilutes the effect of the tan. The longer you are in water the lighter your tan will get.
